In this role, you’ll work to not only build game backends, but also integrate these services with the game client itself.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Our ideal candidate is a self-motivated and demonstrated team player with the ability to juggle and jump between different tasks as necessary. However, Rushdown is willing to offer relocation assistance for successful candidates located outside of a reasonable commuting distance.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Disclaimer: Please note that this is not a gameplay engineering role.</span></p><p> </p><p><span style="font-size: 12pt;"><strong>Responsibilities</strong></span></p><ul><li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Ramp up quickly with an existing codebase.</span></li><li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">General support for live features and releases.</span></li><li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Develop backend services for multiplayer games.</span></li><li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Estimate and prioritize a backlog of existing features, bugs, and tech debt.</span></li><li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Partner with designers to iterate on features and optimize for a smoother player experience.</span></li></ul><p> </p><p><span style="font-size: 12pt;"><strong>Requirements</strong></span></p><ul><li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Three (3) years of professional experience writing high-performance applications in C#.</span></li><li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Experience writing and optimizing SQL queries in Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.</span></li><li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Familiarity with Redis or other non-relational databases.</span></li><li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Ability to write and handle communication between microservices.</span></li><li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Ability to comfortably navigate and integrate with one or more cloud service providers (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).</span></li><li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Proficiency in setting up and deploying Docker services for containerization.</span></li><li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Willingness to selflessly put player experiences first — before even your own code and ego.</span></li><li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Proactive approach to communication, particularly when it comes to unblocking yourself and navigating obstacles as part of a team.</span></li></ul><p> </p><p><span style="font-size: 12pt;"><strong>Nice-to-Haves</strong></span></p><ul><li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform, Pulumi, or AWS CDK.</span></li><li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Experience with C++, particularly within a game development context.</span></li><li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Experience working with ReactJS or a similar front-end library.</span></li><li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Experience using Perforce for version control.</span></li></ul><p> </p><p><span style="font-size: 12pt;"><strong>Benefits:</strong></span></p><ul><li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Compensation: $100,000-125,000/year.
